Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over 400 past events in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
The non-profit organization is headquartered in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in over 200 cities around the world. Leadership Resources, provider of strategic planning and organizational development services, recognized the success of eight individuals and four corporations/groups by presenting them with Success Awards at their 2012 Celebration of Success event held Tuesday, December 11 at Embassy Suites Lincoln.
The accomplishments of 19 Finalists and 12 Winners were celebrated during the Success Award presentation. The 2012 Winners are: Craig Zimmerman, Securities America; Haley Coufal, Cornhusker Bank; Ryan Williamson, Cabela’s World’s Foremost Bank; Brooke Jansen, Wineman Communications Group; Nick Schaffer, Cornhusker Bank; Michael Belluomini, Securities America; Cory Mason, Executive Travel; Sara Hernandez, Union Bank and Trust; NAQS; Cornhusker Bank; Cheever Construction and UNL Dept. of Agriculture, Leadership, Education and Communication.
“These individuals and businesses committed themselves to following our development processes and we are honored to help them achieve their dreams. Our team takes great pride in helping others succeed and always expect great results from our clients. Over two hundred leaders from Lincoln and Omaha attended this annual event focused on providing people with tips and tools to take their business or career to the next level. Those in attendance had the opportunity to be inspired by keynote speaker Marc LeBaron, Chairman and CEO of Lincoln Industries, engage in roundtable discussions featuring 20 successful community leaders, celebrate achievements of the Success Award Winners and participate in a 2013 Planning Workshop.
Leadership Resources, provider of strategic planning and organizational development services, announced the hiring of Jerry Krueger as Vice President of Business Development in Lincoln. Krueger will work directly with business leaders to provide development solutions that will help them achieve their sales and operational goals.
Prior to joining Leadership Resources, Krueger developed his marketing, strategic planning and development expertise through a twenty-two year career at Gallup. He earned many notable achievements during his time there and had various management science articles published in Gallup Press books and The Gallup Management Journal. His high levels of teamwork, efficiency and unparalleled client service even garnered him “Most Valuable Player” recognition.
“Jerry’s extensive marketing and development background at Gallup makes him an incredible asset to our organization,” President Boyd Ober says. “We’re always looking to upgrade what we can offer our clients, and his addition is a perfect example of that.”
Mr. Krueger will partner with six-year veteran John Radway to form a dynamic team approach to engaging and creating high-value solutions for individuals and organizations.

Leadership Resources own Dan Sedor is to speak at the Community Conversation on Leadership, Saturday, June 2nd from 10-11am at the Anderson Public Library in Lincoln.
Dan will be part of a panel discussion on what being a leader is and why it matters. He will share ways to take your skills to the next level of success. “Leadership is proactive, it is about planning and getting someone to want to do something. Leaders are effective and do the right things to manage attitudes and beliefs. They get people to see and think bigger than they could have done on their own,” says Sedor.
This engaging community conversation event is free and open to the public. Other panel members include: Doug Emery of the Lincoln City Council, Larry Sternberg with Talent Plus and Milan Wall of the Heartland Center for Leadership Development.
As the Executive Vice President forLeadership Resources, Dan is responsible for directing the efforts of the implementation team, including strategic planning facilitation, program facilitation, coaching, and organizational accountability.
Friday, April 27th was a signature day for the Lincoln TeamMates graduating seniors. The graduating seniors were recognized for their academic achievement and 20 of the TeamMates seniors were awarded scholarships to help them continue with their dream of post-secondary education.
Celebrating the work of TeamMates, their families and mentors
This Spring Celebration event culminates the many years of hard work for the TeamMates seniors, their families and mentors. Many of the TeamMates mentors have been with these graduating seniors through high school and it is very rewarding for them, along with the students and their families, to see their TeamMate student graduate.
An important part of the program featured the awarding of 20 TeamMates scholarships from local donors in the Lincoln community. Without the scholarship assistance, some of the students would not be able to continue with their plan for post-secondary education.
$500 Future Leadership Scholarship
Leadership Resources was proud to sponsor the Future Leaders Scholarship for $500. The recipient of this scholarship was Itzayana attending Lincoln Northeast High School. Itzayana plans on starting in the UNL pre-health program this summer, with the goal of becoming an oncologist.
Following the program, all TeamMates students and mentors were invited to participate in an informational session provided by the UNL Admissions Staff, followed by a campus tour and lunch in Selleck Hall. Lunch was provided for all students and mentors courtesy of TeamMates and UNL.

Leadership Resources received the largest percentage increase award at the 2011 United Way Annual Luncheon held Monday, April 16, 2012, for companies employing less than 50. Leadership Resources had an outstanding increase of 620% over their 2010 campaign results. This award is given annually to recognize organizations that raise additional dollars for the United Way/Community Health Charities Campaign. Other businesses recognized in this category were Coca-Cola Refreshments for mid-sized companies and Lincoln Industries for organizations employing 251+.
